Hi Leaders and Supporters,

Well has summer finished? as we are back to rain?

Shop News. Do you remember last week’s burst of plasterers, well it didn’t happen this week as they only turned up one day Tuesday 10.30 to 3.00. A !new company! of plasterers turned up todayFriday as the builders’ plasterers didn’t turn up Wednesday or Thursday. I think I have got rid of the last pigeon out of the flats on Wednesday. It took a while to get it to fly out of the skylight. Found a nest with an egg in it behind a wardrobe, there are probably more in the loft void and under the floors.

Yellow Card 22. Do not allow activities that encourage bullying behaviour, including initiation ceremonies, dares or forfeits. That’s British Bulldog out of the window then, but Leadership is a mild form of bullying eg shouting, shut up while I am talking. Does the above mean, we can’t do investitures any more, as it is an initiation? It’s an event that a Scout takes part in to become an official member of their section? If you say, Fred go and climb that mountain, is that a dare or bullying as Fred may not like heights. Fred as you haven’t shut up, go and stand in the naughty corner, is that bullying, a dare and a forfeit? He couldn’t get to the naughty corner due to his broken arms and legs after falling down the mountain as he was talking rather than listening his Leader.

Safety and Safeguarding. From the above safety for Fred to climb. You need permissions from Andy DC, whoops DLV, to go outside, the correct permits for climbing, the correct terrain permits, the correct weather, the correct checked equipment, helmet, harness, carabiner, ropes, shoes, dress, (I don’t mean an actual dress) health forms, first aid kit, first aiders and home contacts. Safeguarding, putting Fred in the naughty corner could be bullying to get him there, while still on his stretcher and leaving him there is a forfeit and isolation

Notes, these are my old opinions and may or may not be the same as others.

AGM 10/7/24. Went well and finished before the England match and we had a SASSY meal to goto. All parts agreed to and signed off. The Worshipful The Civic Mayor of Tameside Cllr Betty Affleck, is now our new invested President with her black and red necker. She thanked everyone for their help supporting young people in Tameside, the Mayor is happy to attend events, give out awards and to see what Scouts do in NT. Let me have details as soon as you can so I can book her to see if she can attend. Mark Howarth St Micheals Explorers (3rd) was presented with his King Scout award by Andy DC. Vanassa Rothwell was voted in as our new chair, her introduction is following. I was presented with a thank you card and voucher for 60 years in Scouting. Sorry but you have not got rid of me yet, as I am still here as a District Advisor, PRaTTS,and SAS. I guess you will have to wait till my ticker stops or I don’t wake up one morning.
